Investigations of nanosystems with carbon nanotubes in swift heavy ion tracks

Carbon nanotubes and SiC whiskers in the pyrolysis of vapors of acetonitrile on nickel clusters deposited in the pores obtained with dressings tracks of heavy metal ions in the dielectric layers of SiO2 with single-crystal silicon substrates. The resulting structures were investigated by scanning electron microscopy and Raman spectroscopy, field emission characteristics are measured them.

 

Electrochemical deposition of nickel into the pores
Electrolyte 0.5 NiSO4 + 0.5 H3BO3 (U = 1B). The degree of filling is controlled by time.

Synthesis of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) by thermal decomposition of chemical compounds (CVD-method) for nickel nanoclusters in ion tracks

Current-voltage characteristics of the emission current of the samples (a) CNTs and (b) SiC whiskers were measured at interelectrode distances of 500 and 1000 microns. Red and black curves correspond to measurements at increasing and decreasing the sawtooth

It was found that the formation of nanotubes or SiC whiskers, as a result of catalytic pyrolysis of hydrocarbons is determined by the degree of filling of ion tracks clusters of nickel. Shown that the threshold for the appearance of electron emission is 1 V / m for both types of samples, differences in the shape of the current-voltage characteristics are explained by differences in the electronic structure of CNTs and SiC whiskers.
